NAGOYA, October 3 — South Korea added three gold medals to its tally at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday, October 2, 2026, bringing its total to 33 gold medals.

The golds came from the men’s recurve archery team event, where Lee Woo-seok, Kim Je-deok, and Kim Woo-jin defeated India 5-1 in the final; the men’s dinghy sailing event, won by Ha Jee-min at Kaiyoh Yacht Harbor in Gamagori; and the League of Legends esports competition, where South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 to defend its title, with Lee Sang-hyeok (Faker) sitting out the final.

Earlier on Friday, South Korea earned silver and bronze medals across multiple events: the women’s recurve archery team lost to India 5-3 in the final, ending a seven-gold streak; the mixed recurve archery team of Kim Je-deok and Kang Chae-young took bronze after struggling in blustery conditions at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square in Okazaki, about 50 kilometers southeast of Nagoya; Ha Jee-min also contributed to a silver in the mixed dinghy sailing event with Kim Chang-ju and Lee Gyeong-jin; the women’s football team defeated China 1-0 in Osaka for a bronze medal, with Noh Jin-young scoring the winning header in the fourth minute; Nam Ji-sung and Park Ui-sung won silver in men’s doubles tennis after losing to Japan’s Yusuke Kusuhara and Shunsuke Nakagawa 2-0 (6-3, 7-6 (7-4)); Jang Dong-hwan took silver in men’s 60kg boxing after losing to Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Khalokov by unanimous decision, while Kim Min-seong lost 4-0 to India’s Ankush Panghal in the men’s 80kg final; South Korea also claimed two silver and two bronze medals in ju-jitsu, and two silver and three bronze medals in judo.

No gold medals were won in taekwondo sparring events, as An Hyang-sik (men’s -58kg) and Kwak Min-ju (women’s -67kg) lost in the semifinals. Despite the three golds on Friday, South Korea remains in third place behind China and Japan in the gold medal count and is unlikely to meet its target of 40 to 45 gold medals for the Games, though additional golds are expected on Saturday.
